I feel like I missed the boat on Mt. Desolation, whose first (self-titled) album came out last October. I got excited when I saw a Chicago date on their tour page, only to realize it was from 2010. The British alt-country duo’s two primary members are Tim Rice-Oxley and Jesse Quin, both of Keane, but the album features other musicians from well-known bands, including Noah & The Whale, The Killers, and Mumford & Sons.
The video for “Departure” is beautifully shot, and the Polaroid photo effect is very nicely done. The song is catchy and upbeat for being one about leaving.

I’ll treasure til I’m dead
Everything we have said and done
For the voice in my head is telling me I’d best be moving on
Cause the decent folk don’t want me
Everywhere my missteps haunt me
