Chicago joins New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dallas/Fort Worth in playing host to Concert Confidential, sponsored by online ticketing platform Eventbrite. Each city will be offering a free show in an intimate venue on Saturday, September 17th.
It’s not just a free gig at a tiny venue, though: each Concert Confidential show benefits a local charity, with concertgoers being able to make donations through an Eventbrite app at the door. Chicago’s gig benefits  one of my favorite local charities, Rock for Kids, which provides free music instruction to low income neighborhoods.
Freelance Whales are headlining the Chicago gig, which takes place on Saturday night at the Empty Bottle. They play in our windy city often enough that they may as well call it a second home, and are sure to deliver another night of energetic handclaps and glockenspiels. Perhaps even a melodica or two. Just guessing.
Chicago’s Concert Confidential show kicks off at 7 pm on Saturday. Doors open at 6:30 and entry is first-come, first-served. Register for your free ticket on Eventbrite beginning at 12:01 am on Thursday, September 15th.
