As I mentioned on Twitter recently, the guys of Cadillac Sky have gone on an indefinite hiatus. I’m very glad that I was able to discover them when I did, and that I saw what have turned out to be some of their last shows. They’ll all be pursuing other projects, and I imagine that this solo side project by the delightfully bearded David Mayfield is just one of those sorts of projects.

While the rest of the world was out enjoying themselves in drunken year-end debauchery, I was home making a best of 2010 mix. That’s basically the story of my life. Check it out below, via this handy little Grooveshark widget. Happy new year, all.

The guys of Cadillac Sky have all of the elements that make a great live show: entertaining band members, catchy songs, great senses of humor, and some serious talent. Their opening sets for Mumford & Sons definitely converted me into a huge fan.

Witty banter would mean nothing without stellar music to back it up, and fortuately, Mumford & Sons have continued to deliver on that mark. Their performance is tight, without skipped beats or botched notes, but not so polished as to feel inauthentic.
