This week’s playlist looks significantly less pretty, as there were some tech issues with the playlist tracker.  I’m sure you won’t be too devastated. As always, you can hear my delightful music selections every Friday night on Chicago’s own CHIRP Radio, from 8 – 10 pm Central time. 8:00 hour Quiet Company/Everything Louder Than Everything Else/We […]

I did not give it permission to be almost 2011. Seriously. I’m planning on making it out to the Hideout tonight to end the year on a high note, with what’s sure to be a great show from Robbie Fulks and Nora O’Connor. Monday, December 27 Robbie Fulks, Nora O’Connor; Hideout. 7 pm, $10 suggested […]

This is basically the worst week in the world for concerts. And by worst, I mean full of too many choices. I’ll be at the Brandi Carlile show at SPACE on Wednesday, and at DeVotchKa at Lincoln Hall on Saturday. The rest of the week is up in the air. I’ll probably be sobbing under my desk rather than making any real decisions.

Let’s hope that this week is better than last, where I had a moment of complete brilliance and proceeded to forget all about the show I was supposed to go to on Saturday night. Sigh. I’ll be at Lincoln Hall on Wednesday (Fanfarlo) and Thursday (The xx), provided that I don’t forget about those shows, […]

After teasing us with a few featured bands recently, SXSW has released a list of over 200 showcase bands for this year’s festival. It’s a lot of material to go through, and more information is forthcoming. SXSW usually provides additional information and links to free mp3s for their featured bands, so keep an eye out […]
