March in Review
Know what kind of snuck up on me? The end of the month. So much so that March has already been over for a good while before I realized that I needed to post it. Anyhow, here's your monthly widget of awesome songs that have caught my attention.
Hooray for Covers! Bangin', "Telephone" and "Bad Romance"
Like Lady Gaga but wish it were less techno dance-hall beats? Like hard rock or maybe even metal but harbor a secret love for top 40 pop? Then check out these two covers, put together by a couple of guys from Toronto well schooled in metal and heavy music.
Concert Review: Angel Taylor and Green River Ordinance, Lincoln Hall 3/31
The 22-year old Taylor's music is full of heartbreak, warnings against mean boys who will break your heart, and longing for meeting that special someone and falling in love.
Lollapalooza 2010 Lineup
In case you took an internet hiatus overnight, here's some "news" for you: Lollapalooza's lineup for the 2010 festival has been released in full, including all the letters and &s and *'s, because god forbid they write out Fuck Buttons on their website.
CHIRP Record Fair and Other Delights
The 2010 CHIRP Record Fair & Other Delights kicks off next Saturday, April 10, at the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Union (1340 W. Washington), at 10:00 am.
Hooray for Covers! Norah Jones, "Jesus Etc."
I've always loved Norah Jones, though her latest album didn't quite do it for me. Â Maybe that's because I was listening to a webrip of truly terrible quality. Â She's got a truly beautiful voice, though, and manages to make this cover her own, despite how simple the arrangement is.
Wheel of Fortunepalooza?
With high profile summer festivals constantly trying to find new and interesting ways to reveal their lineups, Lollapalooza figured out a way to do it that will have the whole internet talking.
Wow, That's a Good Song: Laura Marling, "Devil's Spoke"
Honestly, this song is kind of perfect. The album version features Mumford & Sons, and the whole thing is just terribly intense. It's going to be pretty awesome to watch Laura Marling continue to grow as a singer and songwriter.
